Cinema Snyder Returns with DCOS Support

The Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) is proud to announce a public-private partnership with the Beaver Family to restore and reopen a beloved piece of local history, Cinema Snyder. With the Beaver’s private capital investment of over $450,000, the double-screen theatre, a longtime favorite in the community, will undergo renovations and reopen to the public in midsummer 2025, just in time for a major summer blockbuster premiere.

With seating for more than 400 guests and plans to showcase today’s top films, Cinema Snyder will once again offer high-quality entertainment for the community. Renovation plans include a redesigned lobby, the addition of an ADA-compliant restroom, a new ticket booth, and upgraded equipment—all designed to create a modern, comfortable moviegoing experience.

Barbara Leatherwood, Executive Director of DCOS said, “Restoring Cinema Snyder not only enhances the quality of life for our residents, but it also sends a clear message that Snyder is growing, thriving, and ready to welcome new businesses and families. These kinds of projects breathe life into our community and lay the foundation for long-term economic success.”

Leatherwood went on to emphasize the economic importance of projects like this:

“When businesses look at communities for expansion or relocation, they’re not just evaluating the numbers—they’re looking at the lifestyle. Reviving Cinema Snyder is part of our ongoing effort to make Snyder a place where people want to live, work, and enjoy life. We’re incredibly thankful to the Beaver Family for believing in Snyder and making this significant investment in our community. Snyder families deserve local entertainment, shared memories, and places that bring us together. This project helps deliver just that.”

The theatre’s return will be led by Jay Beaver, a lifelong Snyder resident and member of the investing family, who will manage the theatre and oversee its daily operations.

“This theatre means something to so many people in Snyder, including me,” said Beaver. “I’m proud to be part of bringing it back for a new generation. We want Cinema Snyder to be more than just a place to watch movies, we want it to be a place where families and friends come to make memories.”

As the community eagerly awaits the grand reopening in midsummer 2025, DCOS and the Beaver Family invite residents to join in celebrating this exciting step forward. The return of Cinema Snyder not only honors the past but looks boldly toward the future. One where Snyder continues to grow as a place people are proud to call home.
